Runoff, soil and nutrient losses were monitored from 1972 to 1976 from three row cropped watersheds with different conservation treatments and from 1972 to 1974 from a bromegrass treatments involved in the row-cropped watersheds were: (1) non-conservation (row cropped using conventional turn plow tillage with rows run parallel to fieldborders, and non-terraced), (2) grassed waterway (steep backslope terraces with grassed waterway, row cropped using till-planting on the contour), (3) tile outlet (steep back slope terraces with underground waterways, row cropped using till-planting on the contour). The bromegrass watershed was kept ungrazed during the first year of the experiment (1972) and heavily grazed on the other two years (1973 and 1974). The slopes in al l watersheds were approximately the same and averaged 5 to 8 percent. The soil of all watersheds was a Sharpsburg Silty Clay Loam. Annhydrous ammonia at the rate of 224 Kg/ha/year was the only fertilizer applied to the row cropped watersheds. Average precipitation for the period of study was 66.2 cm which is 6.6 cm below the 76 year average fro Lincoln, Neb. Two of the years (1974 and 1975) were extremely dry with precipitations 30 cm below the average; two of the years (1972 and 1976) had about 24 cm above average. Average annual soil and water losses from all watersheds were relatively low during the period of study. The soil loss limit of 10 ton/ha/year considered acceptable for the Sharpsburg Silty Clay Loam was never exceeded on any of the................
